We are a leader in processing used motor oil to produce low sulfur marine diesel fuel meeting the most stringent IMO  2020 low sulfur requirements for our customers.

FUEL UPGRADE

Through proprietary technology AZ Fuel has achieved a commercially viable process to upgrade used motor oil to an IMO 2020 compliant marine diesel fuel. Using this proprietary technology AZ Fuel effectively competes in the marine diesel fuel marketplace.

Kip W. Gilleland

Co-Managing Partner

  • Over 25 years of experience in operations and asset management primarily in the commercial and residential real estate with the last six (6) plus years focused on oil & gas and water re-used and recovery projects.
  • Prior to forming AZ Fuels, Kip was Division President and Executive Management for top 10 publicly traded homebuilders with oversight of operations, acquisition, development and construction of $700 mm of assets.
  • BS in Business Administration with minor in Sociology; previous Board Member of Home Builders Association of Denver, CO.

Stephen J. Wethor

Co-Managing Partner

  • Over 30 years of experience in accounting, financing, and asset management in commercial and residential real estate and oil & gas projects.
  • Prior to forming AZ Fuel, Steve was the President and Interim CFO for a top 10 publicly traded homebuilder overseeing $1.5bn of acquisitions, development, and construction of residential real estate assets.
  • BSBA with a major in Accounting from University of South Dakota and previously held Certified Public Accountant designation in Colorado and Arizona.

EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT

Rick Chavez

Technical Advisor for Visbreaker Heater Design, Construction, and Operations

  • Over 34 years of experience in all technical aspects of engineering, constructing and operating oil refineries with specific experience with Visbreaker units in Europe and the US.
  • Held ownership and senior positions with James & Luther (petrochemical engineering and subcontractor to major EPCs) to Williams Refining.
  • Holds a BS in Chemical & Petroleum Refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.

Mike Ebert

Technical Advisor for Operational Design, Construction, and UMO Operations

  • Over 24 years overseeing the engineering and operations of re-refineries processing 2.0 billion gallons of UMO to saleable products
  • Role with AZ Fuels is overseeing the technology process design and engineering of the Plant.
  • Held senior positions as President of Puralube USA and VP of Oil Engineering and Technology for Clean Harbors Environmental Services (formerly Safety-Kleen) overseeing 2.0 billion gallon of UMO.
  • Holds a MBA from York University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Waterloo.  He is a Licensed ProfessionalEngineer in the province of Ontario.

Edward (Ned) Murray

Technical Advisor for UMO Procurement and Logistics 

  • Over 35 years in the environmental industry collecting, recycling, and processing UMO.
  • Role with AZ Fuels is technical advisor overseeing the plant logistics, UMO procurement, and offtake strategies for the refined products.
  • Prior to becoming a technical advisor to AZ Fuels, Ned was President of Midstate Environmental Services, a UMO collector, andVPof Universal Lubricants, a UMO collector and re-refiner of UMO to base oils and other distillate processing over 34 mm gallons per year.
  • Holds a BS in Chemistry & Business Administration from Dekalb College and formerly served on the Board of Directors for NORA.
